About Christian

From a young age Christian remembers driving around in the car with Dad, spotting potholes and making sure that they got fixed. This simple task stirred a passion in Christian that has led him to be a voice for local community for 12 years.

Christian spent most of his childhood on the Sunshine Coast growing up in Montville and moving to Buderim in 1996.

Completing year 12 at Nambour Christian College, it wasn’t long before he began work at Maroochy Shire Council, finding his feet in records management and customer service.

In 2006 an opportunity presented itself to campaign for the seat of Division 8. Not one to shy away from a challenge and eager to get involved in hands on community engagement, Christian put his hand up. Despite many challenges Christian was elected to Division 8 and held the seat until the following election in 2008.

In 2008 Christian was elected local councillor for Division 6 as part of the amalgamated Sunshine Coast Regional Council.

In the 2012 local election Christian was elected unopposed, something that was unexpected and very humbling.

Christian successfully retained his seat in the March 2016 election by securing a favourable level of support from the community.

In 2020, Christian was re-elected as the Division 6 councillor. The new division area has now expanded into Palmview and the Harmony Estate.

During 2020 and 2021, Christian studied and successfully completed his Diploma of Local Government, providing him with an even greater level of education and experience for his role in the community.

In June 2023, Christian and his wife welcomed their first child Theodore Dickson whom they love very much.

Christian and his family which includes two Kelpies live in the Harmony Estate at Palmview and are proud Division 6 locals.

In March 2024, Christian is standing for re-election as the Division 6 Councillor.

My values and commitments to locals

  • I love the Sunshine Coast and our local community. We are unique and so is our region. I want to live my life here.

  • I have no political alliances and will represent you as an independent member on council. I put the issue first above politics.

  • I am open, accepting and inclusive of all members in our community. This means treating others as I’d like to be treated.

  • I have a proven track record and a plan for the future. I don’t give up on things easily.

  • I will continue to work hard for Division 6 and the wider Sunshine Coast.

  • I will support the elderly and those with disabilities because everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

  • I will be continue to be down to earth, humble and approachable. Better things happen when we work as a team.

  • If you need me, I’ll be there to listen and find a fair way forward for all involved.
